A Nursery weekly lesson plan focused on Cars, where children explore car looks and functions, wheels, car races, road safety, revise letters Dd-Ff, practice left/right slants, and build a toy car.

What children learn

  • Identify cats and dogs as common pets and discuss responsible care.
  • Explore their homes, physical traits, food, behaviour, and communication.
  • Recognise, trace, and write the letter Ff and its sound.
  • Identify blue, sort red and blue, and practise left and right slanting lines.

Key activities

  • Painting and discussing common household pets
  • Building a pet habitat from paper and cardboard
  • Creating textured cat-and-dog artwork
  • Sorting picture cards to identify suitable pet foods
  • Making and wearing origami cat or dog masks for imitation play

You’ll need

cat and dog pictures, paper and cardboard, paint and brushes, yarn and glue, pet-food picture cards, mask paper and thread, blue and red objects, letter Ff cards, sand or rice trays

Structure: 5 days; each day: Thought of the Day, Tuning-in Time, Warm-up, EVS, Literacy, Numeracy
