What children learn

  • Classify plants and identify roots, leaves, flowers, seeds, and twigs.
  • Observe how plants and trees change across seasons.
  • Recognise and write Kk and create patterns with natural materials, shapes, and numbers.

Key activities

  • Planting a seedling or seed in a pot or coconut shell
  • Constructing a miniature forest in a sensory tray
  • Sorting and classifying plant parts and plant-based items
  • Making a seasonal plant picture from fresh and dry loose parts
  • Recreating natural textures and patterns with leaves and petals

You’ll need

pots or coconut shells, seeds or saplings, soil and water, leaves and twigs, branches and pebbles, plant-part specimens, season cards, fresh and dry loose parts, paint and paper, letter Kk cards, number and shape cut-outs

Structure: 5 days; each day: Thought of the Day, Tuning-in Time, Warm-up, EVS, Literacy, Numeracy
