A Nursery weekly lesson plan focused on Paper, covering its invention, paper-making processes, recycling importance, tracing letter Tt, counting and writing number 8, origami, and octopus crafts.

What children learn

  • Explore materials used for writing before and after the invention of paper.
  • Describe the basic process of making paper.
  • Explain why paper recycling matters and recognise paper in daily life.
  • Use paper creatively while recognising and writing Tt and the number 8.

  • Texture-printing to compare surfaces used for writing
  • Exploring and representing the steps used to make paper
  • Collecting and sorting recyclable paper and packaging
  • Creating paper art from craft paper, newspaper, and card
  • Hunting for and classifying paper objects around the classroom

You’ll need

textured cloth, bubble wrap, leaves and sticks, cardboard and paint, paper and newspapers, brushes, recyclable boxes and rolls, gloves and collection bags, craft and card paper, crayons and glue, letter Tt cards, number 8 cards and pipe cleaners

Structure: 5 days; each day: Thought of the Day, Tuning-in Time, Warm-up, EVS, Literacy, Numeracy
