Physical Development — printable resources

Gross and fine motor skills — from core strength to the pencil grip children need for writing.

Physical Development in the EYFS covers both gross motor movement and the fine motor control children need before they can write. This collection focuses on the fine motor side: tracing sheets, cutting practice, mazes, dot-to-dots, and craft templates that build hand strength and pencil control step by step.

Work through them in small groups or as table-top activities. Each sheet gives fingers a workout — pinching, threading, cutting, and mark-making — so that by the end of Reception children can hold a pencil effectively and write recognisable letters, as the Fine Motor Skills early learning goal expects.
