A 5-day lesson plan introducing names, locations, and functions of body parts. Includes circles exploration, story reading of Pinocchio, and muscle-strengthening fine-motor activities.

What children learn

  • Identify and name primary facial and body parts.
  • Connect body parts with functions such as seeing, hearing, eating, walking, and moving.
  • Recognise physical similarities and differences, including the plan’s introduction to gender.
  • Recognise and explore circles through objects, movement, construction, and art.

Key activities

  • Body-part rhymes and a point-and-repeat identification game
  • Body Parts Puzzle using cut-outs and body outlines
  • Mirror exploration and a reading of *Pinocchio*
  • Concept of Gender role-play with boy and girl dolls, followed by clay face-making
  • Functions of My Body Parts dice game and hands-and-feet painting
  • Body-parts Show and Tell, Smiley Face Sandwich, and circle art painting

You’ll need

body-part flashcards and cut-outs, mirrors, storybook, dolls, body outlines, clay and rolling pins, dice, paint and brushes, chart paper, circular objects and cut-outs, buttons, glue, bread and sandwich toppings

Structure: 5 days; each day includes a Thought of the Day, Tuning-in Time, GMD, Cognition/Literacy, FMD, and Numeracy activities.
